• 2023 Student Writing Contest Winners

    Authors of the Flathead holds the Student Writing Competition each year for writers grades 9–12. Wyatt Barnes’s “MY EYES BELONG TO ME” is the winning poem. Wyatt is a student at Bigfork High School and his poem will be forwarded to the Whitefish Review for consideration in a coming issue. Wyatt will receive a $300 prize and free tuition for the Flathead River Writers Conference, September 30 and October 1, 2023.

     

    Other awards are as follows: Poetry - Erika Dowling for “Birds” and Keeva Clark for “Rum Soaked and Floating,” along with Abby Curtis, who was recognized in the Short Non-Fiction category for “Shattered Soul.” All are students at Bigfork High School.

     

    Flathead High School student Lubov Kigilyuk was recognized in Short Fiction for “The Pocket Filler”

     

    Authors of the Flathead thanks our judges: ‘Asta Bowen, Debbie Burke, Rebecca Durham, Hannah Kauffman, Mark Leichtliter, Keith Liggett, Sherri Nissen, Dennis L. Olson, Glenn Schiffman. Author Jess E. Owen (http://www.jessowen.com/) will coordinate the 2024 competition. Watch for an announcement in fall, 2023.
